Windy world This image of Jupiter from JWST's near-infrared camera, NIRCam, helped researchers discover a jet stream above the planet's equator traveling 515 kilometers per hour (320 miles per hour). It is located within the white band crossing the center of the planet, roughly 40 kilometers (25 miles) above Jupiter's cloud decks. The image was released on Oct. 19, 2023.
