The Great Red Spot comes into view
The Great Red Spot comes into view On April 1, 2018 the Juno spacecraft obtained a series of views of Jupiter's varied cloud details. Here we see The Great Red Spot in the one frame all of it was visible after it appeared over the horizon during the Juno's 12th close approach to Jupiter. This and the other Perijove 12 images were first assembled as raw grayscale strips by Mattias Malmer. I then used Photoshop to color balance, curves adjust and sharpen the image to optimize detail through out. The overall color and contrast were then adjusted to known color values while attempting to present reasonable and not unduly exaggerated cloud brightness and color as seen by the camera. Lastly I made the horizon 'limb' conform to a circle, making the images appear more as a section of a view captured with a wide angle lens.
