Spirit route map to sol 1833 As of sol 1,833 (February 27, 2009), Spirit's drivers were attempting to steer it around Home Plate toward the destinations of Von Braun and Goddard to the south. Several attempts were made to ascend to the top of Home Plate, where the driving would be easy, but Spirit had run in to soft sand that proved too difficult to climb. NASA / JPL-Caltech / U.
