NASA's First Class of Women Astronauts Shannon W. Lucid, Margaret Rhea Seddon, Kathryn D. Sullivan, Judith A. Resnik, Anna L. Fisher and Sally K. Ride were NASA's first women astronauts, selected 14 January 1978 in a class of 35. Ride's first flight was in 1983; all the rest eventually flew at least one Shuttle mission.
