Laramie After Opportunity’s left front steering wheel jammed in June 2017, she backed up so the MER ops engineers could see if the terrain has caused the wheel to jam. While the terrain was ruled out as the cause, a small patch of crumply white materials appeared. Named after one of the stops on the First Trans Continental Railroad route, Laramie hints of past water, but there was no time to check it out up close. NASA / JPL-Caltech / Cornell / ASU
