Io over Jupiter's clouds

Io over Jupiter's clouds
Io over Jupiter's clouds On March 3 1979, Voyager 1 captured this view of Io, the most volcanically active body in the solar system, floating over Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system. Voyager 1 Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS): NASA / JPL-Caltech / Alexis Tranchandon / Solaris

The scene is composed of a 12-frames mosaic made of 28 individual images (12 orange filters and 16 violet filters). More classic orientation here: tinyurl.com/hkbqo36. This image is a small crop of a global map Voyager 1 captured on March 3 1979. The data-set contains another captivating scene popularised by Micheal Benson of Europa over the Great Red Spot, yet to be seen in colors as far as I know. https://www.flickr.com/photos/alex-is-solaris/28632019403
