High resolution color view of de Graft Crater, Mercury This color image, taken by the MESSENGER Mercury Dual Imaging System (MDIS) Wide Angle Camera (WAC), features the 68 km (42 mi) diameter de Graft crater at a resolution of 251 m/pixel. The crater floor is covered with bright hollows, which can be seen in detail in this narrow angle camera (NAC) mosaic. The central peaks of de Graft appear blue in this view, likely due to material brought up to the surface from depth during the impact event. Around the rim, material that appears brighter orange in this image can be identified, which may be yet another different type of rock that exists below the surface and was excavated during the impact.
