A small slice of Andromeda A slice of the Andromeda Galaxy captured by the Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys. This image comes from brick nine of PHAT, the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury, and shows a portion of M31 about halfway between the core and outer region. The bright cross-shaped stars are in the Milky Way, and some of the fuzzy patches are other galaxies behind M31. NASA / Space Telescope Science Institute
