Pele's Hotspot in Infrared The Cassini Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) spotted the hotspot of Io's volcano Pele (the bright spot visible on the night side of Io in the lower two images) with its infrared filters on 2 January 2001 00:22 UTC from a distance of 10.29 million kilometers.
