Susan Jewell
Space medicine researcher and Mars analog participant, Mars Initiative
Susan Jewell, MD is a physician, scientist, researcher, educator, biomedical engineer and working to become a flight member as a commercial "medical/scientist" astronaut for low earth orbit (LEO) payload projects and eventual to deep space missions. Her vision is to colonize and settle on the red planet MARS. She recently received a scholarship from European Space Agency to study at International Space University in France. Participating in NASA funded HI-SEAS project, a 120-day Mars exploration analog study, run by researchers at Cornell and University of Hawaii, as member of the support mission team. She is currently studying Aerospace /Space Medicine and obtaining her certifications in Biomedical Engineering at UC Berkeley/Laney College and nanotechnology at Harvard Extension School. A candidate in MSc/PhD, Space Physiology and Health at Center for Human and Aerospace Physiological Sciences, School of Biomedical Sciences, Kings College London UK.
