Danielle Gunn is a lifelong fan of science and space and joined the Planetary Society team in 2015.
Before arriving at The Planetary Society, Danielle enjoyed a career in broadcasting, as general manager of Chicago's leading independent radio station, WLUW-FM, and as an on-air host and producer for NPR-affiliate KCUR-FM in Kansas City. Her science communication career began as a volunteer for Illinois Science Council, a non-profit dedicated to educating and entertaining the public about STEM in everyday life. In 2014, she became ISC's first Associates Board Chair, leading a team of scientists and science enthusiasts in successfully surpassing the organization's fundraising and communications goals.
Inspired by her hero Dr. Carl Sagan, Danielle is fulfilling her dream of dedicating her life's work to helping advance space science with The Planetary Society. As Chief Communications Officer, she leads the team behind the Society's successful marketing, communications, and public outreach work, serving a growing audience of over 7.3 million members and supporters across web, social media, email, podcasts, and reaching billions annually in media coverage of The Planetary Society's work from outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, Popular Science, WIRED, The Verge, CNN, ABC News and more. She serves as co-editor of The Planetary Report.
