L. Alberto (Al) Cangahuala
Europa Clipper mission system manager
L. Alberto (Al) Cangahuala has a technical background in interplanetary navigation, and was the manager of the Mission Design and Navigation Section prior to working on Europa Clipper. He was a NASA Astronaut Selection Finalist in 2000, and currently serves on the Astrodynamics Committee of the International Astronautical Federation. Al earned a BS, MS, and PhD in Aeronautics/Astronautics, as well as a BS in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science, from MIT. He enjoys competing in ‘paired’ crossword puzzle contests with his wife, as well as presenting to high school and college audiences on current and upcoming solar system exploration missions.
