Space Settlement Designer and Author
I was born in Chicago and grew up in Southern California (Seal Beach) right on the beach with a few years in Germany here and there. My first career was music, playing guitar, bass, and saxophone in rock, jazz, country-rock, and funk bands and attending Berkelee College of Music in Boston. I returned to college at the University of California at Santa Cruz to get my bachelors in information science in 1979. While at UCSC I became very excited about space colonization after reading an issue of Coevolutionary Quarterly and went to work at NASA Ames Research Center after graduation. I still play guitar and sing in local groups.
