Eugene Mallove
Former Chief Science Writer, MIT News Office
Eugene F. Mallove was an astronautical engineer and Chief Science Writer at the MIT News Office. He authored multiple popular science books, such as The Quickening Universe: Cosmic Evolution, Fire From Ice: Searching for the Truth Behind the Cold Fusion Furor, and Human Destiny. He also coauthored The Starflight Handbook: A Pioneer's Guide to Interstellar Travel. Mallove held a B.S. and M.S. in aeronautical engineering from MIT and a ScD in environmental health studies from Harvard. His work focused on alternative propulsion methods for space travel, including solar sails, laser propulsion, ramjets, and exotic fuels. Tragically, Mallove was murdered in May of 2004.
