Larry Crumpler gives an update on Opportunity's exploration of Mars as it approaches the entrance to Marathon Valley.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3971 - March 26, 2015
Opportunity reaches a marathon milestone—in more ways than one. Larry Crumpler reports on the current status of the seemingly unstoppable Mars rover.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3902 - January 15, 2015
Larry Crumpler gives an update on the status of Opportunity's traverse toward Marathon Valley.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3875 – December 18, 2014
Opportunity is continuing its drives along the rim of Endeavour toward Marathon Valley. Larry Crumpler tells us what to expect as the rover continues its journey.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3848 — November 20, 2014
Larry Crumpler returns with an update on Opportunity's recent activities, and its road ahead.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3808 — October 10, 2014
Opportunity will become a comet flyby mission beginning in mid-October. The comet Siding Spring will zoom past Mars at a distance of about 135,000 km on October 19.
Field Report from Mars: Sol 3790 — September 22, 2014
After a stand-down of activities to reformat its flash memory, Opportunity has re-commenced the long climb up this high and steep segment of the Endeavour crater rim.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3753 – August 15, 2014
Opportunity just completed its first drives upslope on its long journey toward the crest of the highest rim segment of Endeavour crater, “Cape Tribulation.” Larry Crumpler gives us an update on what to expect next from the little rover that could.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3737 – July 30, 2014
Larry Crumpler updates us on the Opportunity rover, which now holds the distance record for a rover on another planet and is about to climb up its highest crater rim segment yet.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3705 – June 27, 2014
Opportunity has left the winter haven and is still driving south along the rim of Endeavour crater, currently exploring an outcrop a few meters from crater rim.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3650 – May 2, 2014
Opportunity is closing in on the next important outcrop area on the rim of Endeavour crater.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3623 – April 3, 2014
Larry Crumpler gives an update on Opportunity's current location, next long-term target, and excitingly increasing power levels.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3572 – February 10, 2014
Opportunity is still exploring an outcrop high up on Murray Ridge as the winter solstice on Mars approaches. At this location the tilts are good, so Opportunity is getting excellent solar input on its solar panels.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3556 – January 24, 2014
Today is the tenth anniversary of Opportunity's landing on Mars. Here at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, we just opened a tenth anniversary exhibit.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3519 - December 18, 2013
Opportunity arrived at the location that has been the target of all this climbing since late last (Earth) summer. We will settle in for some detailed work on the outcrop here since this appears to be something different from the impact breccias that we have been seeing along the ridge crest.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3494 - November 21, 2013
On sol 3485 Opportunity pulled up next to a large outcrop here on the rim of Endeavour crater. The outcrop appears to be impact breccias like those we saw a few sols ago lower down on the ridge. But the texture of the rocks is somewhat different.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3467 - October 24, 2013
On sol 3451 Opportunity began its climb of Solander Point. This is the highest “mountain” that Opportunity has tried to climb yet.
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3431 - September 18, 2013
On sol 3425 Opportunity
Field Report From Mars: Sol 3397 - August 13, 2013
Opportunity arrived at the base of the next segment of the Endeavour crater rim and is now investigating the contact.
