More Support for the 2011 Budget Proposal

The new joint statement by space organizations representing a large segment of the science and space-interest community, including The Planetary Society, is a terrific endorsement for the 2011 budget proposal for NASA.

The new plan is controversial, and there has been a great deal of misunderstanding about what it will mean for the future of human space exploration. While it's true some in the space community will suffer short-term losses, the expanded budget and the greater participation of private-industry should make up for these losses. And, especially important to The Planetary Society, the support for science and exploration should enable the future investments to be even better than the past.

The joint statement and list of organizations that signed it is here. Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride, Rusty Schweickart, James Cameron, and more also support the new plan for NASA. Find out more here.
