Continuing the Search for Mars Polar Lander

The recent, enormous pile of image releases from the HiRISE camera on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter includes another dozen taken in the ongoing campaign to hunt for the crash site of Mars Polar Lander. A while back I put together a long page explaining how to search for missing landers in HiRISE images. I've updated the page with links to all the recently released HiRISE images of the area. If you'd like to be part of a coordinated search for the lander, go to that page, scroll down to the links to HiRISE images, and select one or two that you want to search, then send me an email (to blog at planetary.org). This way we can make sure the worldwide effort to hunt for the lander is evenly spread across all the images!

I will be delighted to receive emails with candidate spots but I am probably not going to be able to reply to all such emails on a timely basis. So, in addition to sending them to me, the best place to discuss candidate spots will be in the comments area of the HiBlog entry on these images, or within this thread at unmannedspaceflight.com.
