Dawn postponed until September
I'm just beginning to get up to speed on the events of the weekend. I was hoping to post an update on the Dawn launch delay, which is already old news, before watching this morning's press conference on Phoenix, but I couldn't quite make it in time. That turned out to be fortuitous, because NASA used 15 minutes at the beginning of the Phoenix press conference to give a more detailed explanation of why they chose to delay Dawn's launch until September. I wrote up a quick news article on that update, which you can read here.
So now it's time to switch gears, to Phoenix's upcoming launch. Stay tuned for an update on that, either this afternoon or tomorrow. Until then, check out this week's Planetary Radio, which features an interview with Mike A'Hearn on the recent selection of extended missions for Deep Impact and Stardust!
