Save Our SETI!

Right now, this means paying for urgently needed technical improvements and bolstering hard-pressed SETI operations budgets on two continents.

The two experiments—Optical SETI at Harvard University and Southern SETI at the Argentine Institute for Radio Astronomy—stand at the center of the Society’s efforts to find evidence of intelligent life beyond our small world.

Your help is needed today to keep the search moving forward!

In Argentina, we need to replace the Southern SETI software.

The new software will allow us to accommodate a new state-of-the-art spectrometer that will massively increase the META II system's capacity, allow for incredibly faster searching through many more simultaneous radio frequencies, and reduce, by years, the time required to properly survey the southern skies.

At Harvard, we need to upgrade the Opitcal SETI system.

The upgrade will filter out false positives created by Cherenkov radiation on the system that analyzes Optical SETI’s data. The system must be upgraded to filter out these radiation flashes from a real ET laser signal.

If one of our experiments finally hits a payday—it really will be one of the greatest discoveries in history.

The Planetary Society is the only organization searching every possible minute.

We are the only ones running continuous SETI searches: one radio, one optical; one southern hemisphere, one northern hemisphere.

With your help we cover the galaxy!
