Can life be naturally carried from world to world? While others debate this, The Planetary Society with it's international membership is trying to test the transpermia hypothesis by mounting one of the most ambitious scientific experiments ever attempted by a private, citizen-based group. Click here to make this mission of discovery happen! No experiment has ever tested the viability of life traveling between the planets. If any of the organisms survive, the entire game will be changed. Real experimental data will give us an understanding of life’s resiliency in space. We can do all of this—we can MAKE HISTORY—but only with you beside us. Your contribution is urgently needed so that we can get the incredible Phobos LIFE experiment into space. Thank you. |
The Living Interplanetary Flight Experiment (LIFE) The Living Interplanetary Flight Experiment (LIFE) will send a sealed container to Phobos, one of the two moons orbiting Mars. Inside, a variety of micro-organisms from all three domains of life (bacteria, archaea, and eurkaryota) will be stored in virtual “suspended animation.” |
