Send Your "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Wishes to BUZZ ALDRIN!

Here are a few of the birthday wishes we have collected...

ANN DRUYAN:

Happy Birthday, Buzz,

It's not unusual for me to use the phrase trips around the Sun in writing birthday wishes, because of course that's what we're celebrating.

On this special occasion I can also raise my glass to one who has made some trips around the moon, too.

So here's to your astonishing courage in the service of exploration!

And the energy and eloquence you bring to the cause of getting us back on the road. With huge admiration and affection for someone who looks like he could still make the cut for the mission to anywhere.

Ann

TOM JONES:

Dear Buzz,

The voyages of your intrepid crews on Gemini 12 and Apollo 11 inspired me
and millions of others to follow in your courageous footsteps.

You've pioneered the way into space and to the Moon, and the example of your
ground-breaking journeys will propel a new generation to set foot on ever
more distant worlds!

As we learn to work and thrive in space, I know you'll celebrate many more
birthdays along with new discoveries made by those you've inspired.

Happy Birthday,
Tom Jones
Astronaut, STS-59, -68, -80, and -98

Best of wishes for a Happy Birthday! It seems like just a short while ago, when I was teaching at Cornell that Carl organized the Planetary Society. And a moment before that we were watching you in space, where you changed our view of the universe.

I'll be looking at the moon....but I'll be seeing you.

When I was 8, our teacher allowed us to watch the Apollo 11 moon landing on a B&W TV in the grade school cafeteria. We all clapped and shouted when the lunar module touched down. In 2010, we're all still clapping and shouting! Happy 80th Birthday!

20 July, 1969...Buzz, you know where you were on that day. And thanks to you, I'll now never forget where I was too. It's been a privilege to have shared in your grand adventure.

Happy 80th Birthday.
I hope all these references to your age don't make you feel old.
(I'm trying to avoid using the word young 'cause that's another astronaut)

Happy birthday Buzz! Here's hoping you'll still be blowing candles when we land on Mars.
-- USA --

Thanks Colonel Aldrin for giving us the moon. I know you would have given us Mars if they would have let you.

Happy Birthday Buzz!! I'm glad I can be a part of your birthday, you've always been part of mine. I was born back in 1966 on November 13, right in the middle of your Gemini XII flight. My attachment to the US Space Program started the day I was born!

Thanks for being an inspiration to every human who's ever wondered what it's like to look down on earth from above!

As one of the aerospace engineers who helped design your spaceship, I am proud to have played a role in your historic mission. I was in the VIP viewing area when you took off. I'm now a NASA Solar System Ambassador telling kids about Apollo & Mars.
