Volunteer Opportunities

Become involved in supporting space exploration by becoming a Planetary Society Volunteer.

Current Volunteer Opportunities include:

Represent The Planetary Society

If you are planning on attending a space-related event in your area, consider attending as a volunteer!  Please contact us and let us know about the event, and we will be happy to work with the event coordinators to provide a table where you can represent The Planetary Society.  We will provide you with materials to hand out to other attendees.

Host an Earthdial Site

The EarthDial project is a partnership between The Planetary Society,
Bill Nye, the Science Guy® and Nye Labs, and Professor Woody Sullivan at the University of Washington. The EarthDials are designed to look somewhat like the MarsDials aboard NASA's Spirit and Opportunity rovers, currently on Mars. To date, we have 14 live dials located around the world, and we would like interested volunteers to become involved by building an EarthDial in your neighborhood, school, library, or other location. Please click here for further information, instructions, and specifications on building your own EarthDial! Have fun!

Create a Mars Station

Mars Stations consist of a diorama representing an area of Mars. Robotic rovers made out of LEGO® components drive around the diorama, investigating the terrain. The rovers are equipped with web cameras and are connected to a computer on the internet. Visitors to the Mars Station's website can drive a rover at any of the Mars Stations by just using their web browser. The Planetary Society and the LEGO Company have teamed together to establish a network of Mars Stations around the world. If you or a school, planetarium, or science center you are involved with, are interested in hosting a Mars Station, please e-mail us. For further information on the project, please click here.
