Global Volunteer CoordinatorLonny BakerLonny Baker is The Planetary Society's Global Volunteer Leader. We are very excited to have Lonny, a volunteer herself, provide the useful information to the members of our Volunteer Network and inspiration to follow in the successes of other volunteer groups. Lonny is the point person for all of the volunteers around the world. She provides communities with individual volunteers, is the intermediary between the volunteers and The Planetary Society, and provides guidance with setting up worldwide events. Lonny has been a member of The Planetary Society since 1981, has been involved in the Society's Bay Area Volunteer Network (TPSBAVN) since 1988, where she served as regional coordinator since 1994. Each year, the TPSBAVN coordinates major events such as panel discussions featuring local or visiting scientists, supports Bay Area TPS or NASA events, and coordinates activities such as tours of local research facilities, star parties, and potluck membership meetings. Three former members of TPSBAVN have moved to other parts of the United States and have formed their own Society Volunteer Networks. If you are interested in finding out more about our volunteer network email Lonny at tps.lb@planetarysociety.org. |
