An Invitation from the Executive Director
Come join us as we explore new worlds together!
I'd like to invite Planetary Society members and friends to the International
Space Development Conference on May 4 to 7 at the Los Angeles Airport Sheraton
Gateway Hotel. This event serves as the annual convention of the National Space
Society (NSS) and this year -- as a first for us -- The Planetary Society is
co-hosting the gathering of space exploration supporters from around the world.
The theme is "Exploring New Worlds." This fits exactly The Planetary
Society's mission: to inspire the people of Earth -- through research, education,
private ventures, and public participation -- to explore new worlds and seek
other life. Working with the NSS, we are putting together an exciting program
covering all aspects of civilian activities in space.
The Planetary Society's "track" of speakers will focus on our many
projects and advocacy initiatives, such as:
- The fleet of international missions
planned to explore Earth's Moon,
- A new beginning for our Society's own solar
sail venture,
- The most recent efforts in the search for extraterrestrial life,
- Discoveries
from the robotic explorers now hard at work in our solar system.
The
Planetary Society and the NSS are planning dozens of exciting programs, and
this will be an opportunity to meet and talk with people who share our passion
for exploring other worlds.
I hope to see you there.
